Must Get Organised ! Guest Blog Post by YoozUs VA

Is the thought of getting organised for you send you into a tail spin?  Let’s face it, if you don’t know where you are heading and how you are getting there…then how on earth will you ever get there?

It really is about getting back to the basics and taking a reality check of the actual situation.  None of us want to say we didn’t reach our goals, so what is stopping you from taking control right now and making the most of the next few weeks before Christmas?  You still have plenty of time to realise some of those goals.

In the past we have said to ask yourself four simple questions to help you assess how important it is to you and hopefully provide the motivation you need to get things done.  Why not revisit these questions again?

  1. How important is this to you?
  2. How long have you been thinking about this for?
  3. What impact will it make if you don’t do this?
  4. How will you feel when it’s done?

After this, you should now be a little clearer on what you want to achieve, so now down to the nitty gritty –  it’s time to get organised, here are a few simple tips:

  • have a plan, it doesn’t have to be war and peace …as long as you have an idea of your end result
  • create an action plan and break it down to manageable activities so you don’t feel overwhelmed
  • Schedule your major milestones in your diary – block out time in your diary for the most important and urgent things first, remember not to let anything else get in the way of these things.
  • Write a daily list of things to do, first thing in the morning and check them off as you go.
  • Review your plan weekly and celebrate each major milestone!

It really is about getting back to the basics.  Sometimes it’s best to go backwards, before you go forwards and it really is important to take time out to work ON your business, rather than IN it.  Why not contact us and use a Virtual Assistant to help you get organisedclick here for a F.R.E.E. Positive Psych Solutions | Top 5 Time Management Tips for the Festive Season for Pet Carers and Pet Parents !

Source: Positive Psych Solutions – Bringing Positive Psychology to Life status update

English: "Running with the seagulls"...

With Christmas just around the corner, and the usual rush that we tend to go through in the lead-up to the holidays, we thought it might be timely to look at some time management tips to try and keep organised – and hopefully less stressed! Here’s Positive Psych Solutions top 5 tips – we hope you find them helpful!

1. Make a “to do” list for the following day, but prepare this at the end of the day before (so you would prepare tomorrow’s to-do list this afternoon or evening). This allows you to get “stuck-in” to the tasks that need doing the next day without procrastinating about all the things that need doing – and trying to actually remember what they are! Don’t forget to cross them off your list once you have finished them – this helps you to gain a sense of accomplishment (the “A” in positive psychology’s “PERMA” theory)

2. Make a “procrastination” list – all the things you have been procrastinating about – and aim to complete these one at a time. Even one a day is a great start!

3. Break big tasks down into smaller, more manageable tasks. So if you have 3 piles of filing to do, aim to do say 30 minutes per day, rather than thinking you have to file the whole lot right now.

4. Prioritise things – prioritise all the things on your to-do list into different catergories such as: urgent (must do now!), important, less urgent etc. Don’t forget to cross them off as you complete them.

5. If you can do a task in less than 2 minutes, do it now! For example – if someone sends you an email and you can reply in less then 2 minutes, do it now so that it is done – and so you don’t have to then have the burden of something else to be done!

Eco Friendly Christmas Ideas – Decorations (GreenBizCheck)

Thanks GreenBizCheck for these eco friendly christmas ideas !

These days, the lure of the $2 shop makes it easy enough to change our Christmas decorations year on year. Seems pretty wasteful for a few weeks a year right? So why not keep things simple? Choose durable baubles and trinkets that will last for years, or better yet, get the kids to make decorations out of recyclables.

With table decorations, instead of using paper napkins and tablecloths, which only get one use, go for fabric ones that can be washed or wiped down and used again and again, the same goes for re-usable plates and cutlery. Decorate the table with flowers or pine cones and get the kids to make name tags and place settings out of last years Christmas paper and cards. If you have old decorations that you won’t re-use, donate them to an op shop or online through sites like Gumtree or OzRecycle.

A few cinnamon sticks or Vanilla Beans bundled in red string or ribbon make a tree or wreath decoration that you can use in hot chocolate later.

A little creativity and a little observation around your house will give you the most uniquely decorated house in the neighborhood!

Finally, when it comes to lighting up your tree, make sure you choose LEDs, they are more energy efficient and last longer.
