I’m feeling a little inspired to write a blog post about a topic I’m passionate about – Pet Sitter (and similar) Websites. I’m NOT an expert nor do I want anything to think of me as such. This is just “my opinion” and doesn’t necessarily reflect that of the Network as a whole (blah blah etc and so on). I personally am just passionate about getting Pet Sitters, Minders and similar to embrace technology especially something as vital as a website.
Page Length Effect on Load Time
It takes an average of 6 seconds for a webpage to load. Although this may seem like a short amount of time, the reality is that visitors’ patience threshold times out at about 2-3 seconds. Your webpages should take no longer than this to load to ensure that your own visitors stick around.

Does your page load within 2-3 seconds ? Does it do so via mobile devises such as iPhones ? One free tool that can clue you in on your own page loading times include Pingdom.
I can tell you right now, as I’m constantly monitoring what is happening in re my own Google ranking and to see what other people within my Industry are doing, a lot of Pet Sitter websites are bad. I’m not saying mine is perfect or that this website is perfect. No.
What I’m trying to say is if you are a Pet Sitter, Pet Minder, Dog Walker or other pet care professional – you must have a website. Yes, must. Google is the new Yellow Pages. People do and are looking for you on Google.
I personally managed to make a full time business purely from having a well ranked (and found) website. I’m not alone either. I never had a need nor desire to spend one cent on Google Adwords as my site ranks well and ranks often for all the keywords that potential clients are putting into Google.
Followed by word of mouth yet even that can fail you because what if the person forgets the name of your business or looses your business card or flyer ? I can bet that they will go to Google. Unless, naturally, your target audience doesn’t like technology (which is an ever shrinking part of the population – thus the minority).
Is your website up to scratch ? Even if you “think” it is up to scratch, this Website School will help revitalise your site.
